  1. In many states you can back out of any contract within 72 hours.  Call the dealership immediately and say you want out of the contract.  If they refuse, call a lawyer immediately.  You will have to pay the lawyer, but it will be cheaper than paying for the car.

If my answer is wrong, how come my boyfriend did this at Apple Tree Acura, in Asheville, North Carolina in 1995?  I guess I hallucinated.

Please don't tell me I am wrong unless you can prove it.  Thanks.

  2. Uh, yea...pretty sure that won't happen. You can't just "give" a car back and expect the money back for it. As soon as you drive a car off the lot, the value depreciates, so the car lot isn't going to give you the money you paid for it. Try to sell it to someone else.

  3. In all states you CANNOT back out of a car contract. Once it's signed, you are on the hook for the money, and you have no legal right to rescind or cancel the deal.

  4. Sorry, first answer is wrong.

There is no "3-day, 72-hr" policy on vehicle sales unless you live in CA and purchased the rights to that. Once you sign, drive off, and exit the lot, it's your car.

You can try to work something out with the dealer, but they are not legally bound to do anything. Don't barge in there and raise a huge stink, as that will lower your chances even more.
