That is what I was told. But now I heard that the rules are changing. Is that true?

  1. Expatriates can purchase an apartment, villa or a plot of land in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and get a three-year residency permit.

    Investor visa:

This type of visa will be granted in case of purchasing a property or establishing a company in UAE. Holders of this type of visa are not allowed to be employed in any company rather than their own company. BUT - it's also said that there is no automatic link between purchasing property in the UAE and being granted a residence visa.

Even if you will be able to receive a residence visa by purchasing property, please be aware that laws and regulations in the UAE can change fast without prior notice.

    Good luck!
