Or would I have to buy separate return tickets for both legs of the journey, even if they're all on the same line?

  1. Ok the official line for break of journey and sorry if its a bit boring are...

Advanced tickets are not permissible a break of journey unless stated that you have a connection to catch and no booked seat or time on your connecting train.

Walk up fares Outward portion of saver's and business Savers do not allow a break of journey, but if you are travelling on the return portion then you are permitted to break the leg of your journey and commence that journey at a later date or time long as the journey is the one stated on your ticket, and is completed in 1 calendar month of purchasing your ticket.

First/Standard open singles do allow a break of journey to be completed that day and is also valid up until 12pm the following day as long as you have commenced your journey by this time.

Standard/First Open both outward and return to allow a break of journey and as again long as your journey is completed one calender month when ticket was purchased.

    hope this helps a bit

  2. No you can't do that with an advance ticket you have to go to your destination but can stop of anyware on route on the way back as there are rules with cheap advance fares

But if you buy a standard walk on ticket at the ticket office on the day you can normally brake your journey but ask at the ticket office first if there are no ticket barriers at station B or it is unstaffed then it should be ok but the ticket inspector willtell you if you can

  3. yeah,,,,,but just make sure train stops at b before jumping off

  4. i used to do it all the time, you need to go to the person on the gate though, it's always good to ask them "is it alright if i just..." then they won't question you when you come back

  5. On most of the trains/subways/buses I've ever been on, once you leave the station/bus your paid ride is over and you need to buy another ticket.

If you are planning to do a lot of shopping where you get off and shop and then get back on, you might want to see if they can sell you a daily/weekly/yearly pass whichever suits your needs. This way you only need show the pass to ride anytime. I do this whenever I go to Boston.

  6. What out for that station B stop. Its just a wee wee stop for the engineer.
