If I buy an open ticket from Virgin Trains can I use it more than once?

Basically, I was wondering if I buy the "Standard Open" or the "Standard First" tickets, does that mean that I can use them again and again, or is it just for one time?

  1. One time only. The "open" refers to the fact you can use any train rather than specifying in advance which one you will take.

The "first" refers to the right to sit in the first class carraiges and, on virgin at least, get free food and drinks.

  2. One time, the open part refers to being able to take any train, by any operator and at any time on any reasonable route between the start and destinaton station - and return any time (and by any resonable route) within 30 days from the outward journey

That flexibility is why Open tickets are so expensive. If you are prepared to commit to traveling on a specific train then Virgin's fares start at £1 each way!

  3. Standard ticket means you stay on the train that you boarded at your departing station unless otherwise permitted to do so by interchanging.

An Open ticket lets you board any other train going to that destination within that day unless peak or off peak.

  4. It depends if you get your ticket checked or not!!!!!!!!!!
