If I buy something from someone I know, like a bedroom set for $1000, can I take legal action against them if it breaks after the first day and it seems impossible that they did not know it was faulty? If so, what exactly would I have to do?

  1. It is always "buyer beware" when buying from an individual. It is an "as is" sale. However you can take them to small claims court for a small fee. Go to the clerk of the court office. They will walk you through the process. It is easy.

  2. contact them and ask them to fix it or take it back, document the request then you can take them to small claims court
