If I can fit a twin sized bed in my bedroom should I be able to fit a full sized one in there?

My room is 8.5x(10 or 11)ft. I have a 3 pieces of furniture which are my armoire, my desk and my bed. I'm getting bigger, and I would like a bigger bed. How can I convince my mom there is enough room in there to have one? She is planning on buying new mattresses for all of our beds. Metal frames don't cost too much, so all I realy have to do is get her to realize theres enough room for one. How much bigger is a full then a twin? Should a full fit if a twin fits? Please let me know.

Thanks.

  1. you should be able to because a full isnt THAT big

  2. fulls are only like about 9 inches bigger so it should it. =]

  3. twin is 39"x75" or 3.25 feet wide

full is 54"x75" or 4.5 feet wide

that is quite some difference in width.

maybe you could use graph paper and draw your room to scale and measure your furniture to create a floorplan to show her how they will all fit.

  4. full (aka double) bed      54 inches by 74 inches

Twin bed mattress -        39 inches by 75 inches

    =================================

add at least a half inch in each direction for the narrowest metal frame.

this is a perfect time to learn about designeing.

Draw a picture of your room's floorplan  - to scale.

you will need eithere a ruler and some graph paper ( lined)

or software like powerpoint on your computer.

    FIRST

    draw the floor, to scale

draw the furniture you  have now and where it is - just the footprint of the furniture

now, on another basic floor drawing, place where the new mattress would fit and where the other furniture would go.

i t is important that it all be to scale.

generally, one should leave a 3 foot space for walking

  5. Full Length: 74 3/8 "

    Width: 53 1/8 "

    twin Length: 74 3/8 "

    Width: 38 1/4 "

    these sizes are standard (almost)

  6. full size beds are the same length but its 15 inch wider than twin size bed..I think your room should be big enough.

  7. Haha well a full bed is just a bit wider and longer than a twin bed. I needed at least a full cause im like a giant im 6'4 lol but yeah it should fit if you can handle maybe 2 feet both ways?

  8. A full sized mattress is the same length as a regular twin.  If you have an XL twin, the twin is longer than the Full.  An XL twin is the same length as a Queen.

A Full is wider than a twin though.  If you room is only 8.5x11, a Full is going to be really tight; especially if you have other furniture.  You are going to need an additional 15 inches for the width of the Full.

If you are just getting taller, you might want to find an XL twin.  This will be long enough for you but won't take up any more width.

  9. I think a full size bed would fit and even if it's a little snug it would be so much more comfortable.

  10. have the full sized measured first. Then measure the space in your room to determine if there's any space.

  11. two twin size = a full so if u can fit 2 twin bed in there a full would go perfectly

  12. well, i wanted the same thing i mean now that im in highschool i wanted it, but i really do like the twin beds - <33.

anyways, see if u can fit another twin bed in there, side by side from where u want ur new bed to be. hope it works!

    xoxo
