If I cancel my credit card is there still a monthly interest charge?

Do I have to pay the balance all at once or can I still make payments on it?

  2. Your card would stand cancelled only after you've paid off all the accrued dues (including interest). Once these dues are paid the card can be closed safely. Just make sure you close it before the beginning of your credit card billing cycle.

  3. Actually, you can't cancel the card until it is paid off.  As long as there is a balance, it will be considered active and finance charges will accrue until fully paid (as of which time, you can close it).

  4. Yes, you will still have to pay interest.  You cannot unilaterally stop interest from accruing on your credit card.  

  5. You cannot cancel your credit card just yet if it is not all paid off.  As long as there is balance on the account, there will be interest charge because you still owe money to the credit card issuer.
