I'm considering switching our family to all cell phones and getting rid of our home phone number to save money. Our DSL and home phone number is provided through embarq. If I cancel our home phone number will I still be able to have my DSL internet?

  1. u can get cable or t3 net connections, they are faster and not necessary need phone line

  2. nope

  3. yes you should

  4. Call Embarq and tell them you only want "Dry Loop DSL" or "Naked DSL".  They can do it, they just don't encourage customers to.

Tell them you want Dry Loop DSL because you no longer need PSTN phone service.  If they can't accomodate you, tell them you will be looking for another DSL service that will.... they may then chage their minds about being cooperative.

  5. No, you will definitely not get DSL through a Disconnected phone line

if you want DSL you have to keep the phone line Connected

  6. i dont have a home phone but do have DSL thru Time Warner Cable...you may want to check out that option...

  7. you shoudl beable to if you dont' know for sure as k them they usually will let you you are paying them tha tis all they care about.

  8. You need to call your company and ask

  9. You really need to check your local provider.... I live in Georgia where AT&T took over several years back from Bellsouth. Ihave since droped everything using just cells. So now needing DSL at home without using my cell, I called said I "ONLY NEED BASIC PHONE SO I CAN HAVE DSL" He said "You only need DSL?" "YES just DSL, I really don't need local serviceif I don;t have to have it". We do have a DSL ONLY for 39.99 and 2 faster speeds at 5.00 & 10. more. I said, thought you had to have home phone to have DSL, Not since the merger (Really felt ripped off seeing how so many years having both) Turns out they can not offer it, or tell you about it, unless you ASK FOR IT SPECIFICALY

Well even more news there's a slower speed (still DSL) for 19.99

Yes my friends DSL 19.95 + tax, no line service charges etc tax. And use the cells for my calls or get Magic Jack.
