Question:

If I change car insurance companies to get a lower rate, does that look negative on my record?

I could save about $40.00 monthly if I switch companies. I'm just wondering if that will look bad on my credit or if it will have any adverse effects on anything that will be taken into consideration for future insurance evaluations or reviews for credit worthiness. Thanks.

  1. Insurance doesn't show up on your credit record so it won't make any difference.

  2. no it won't affect you in any way in the future.  i WOULD advise you to switch companies at your renewal as auto policies are short rated if canceled before the renewal.  this basically means you will end up paying a penalty.

  4. no it wont make any difference

  5. It will not affect your credit in any way.  It is your right and privilege to pick your own company and agent.  If this is a good company, go for it.  That is a savings of almost $500 a year.  Please make sure you are not giving up any coverage so you don't find out the hard way - after you have a claim.

  6. makes no difference at all to your record ,everyone shops around all the time.

did you tell your old insurance company you got a better quote

i did before and its amazing the way they can drop there price

when you mention it to them especially if you are with them a long time if they want to hold onto customers they will drop their price to match the quote you got.

otherwise just move you are bringing your no claims cert with you anyway and that is all that matters to insurance companies when you ring them.

  7. It has nothing to do with credit.  Auto insurance is not "credit."

  8. Nope, no effect at all.

  9. It has nothing to do with credit.
