If I change the radio in my BMW 735IL will i need an external antenna?

I need to change the radio in my car, but there is no external antenna. Will I need to have some type of antenna for my new radio to work??

  1. no you should not cause the wireing harnest should have that wire for the new one


  2. The answer is no. To tell you the truth most bmw radios are way better sounding than after market.

  3. There is an antenna cable connected to your existing radio (but I doubt that the connector would fit an aftermarket radio, however, it can be adapted/modified).

    The existing antenna is located on the rear windshield, see those stripes? The stripes are not just heating elements, part of it is for the AM and FM radio. And do not forget that there is an antenna amplifier  on the rearmost area of the roofliner, or on the left C pillar,

    which if improperly attached to the antenna cable can make all kinds of static or no-signal situations.
