If I color on fabric with a sharpie, will it wash out?

My mom and I make pillows/plush dolls of characters from various TV shows or games when they can't be found for sale. We buy fabric markers and sturdy cloth, but this time I forgot one color and there's no way my mom will spend more money on the markers. So I was wondering, if I were to use a permenant marker instead, and then go over the pillow with an iron before stuffing, will the color stay in after a washing?

I work in a restaurant and often have bleach stains on my uniform from cleaning.  I use sharpies to color the stains on my black pants and they usually work great, albeit with some slight fading if I haven't rinsed all the bleach off first.

So, I say, go for it.

it will fade a little and it may even run!!!! be careful!
