  1. it is ok, but try not to ask personal questions. get to know poeple first before asking them personal things.

if you want to ask something about Religion, way of life, ask it with a matture tone of some one who wants to understand a culture he respects, not someone biased by the western media, and just wants to flatter himself by accusing our cultural values.

  2. Yes u can ask any question, people here r very friendly and sociable they like to help foreigners, but u shouldnt ask any personal or very private questions, unless u know that person well. Egyptians r not violant at all except if u humilate them or any woman from their family. and u can easily be a close friend to anyone and may be know his\her whole family. if they even met u once, they hug u in a friendly way, so dont worry u'll be happy here.

  3. no u are welcomed

  4. Go ahead but as beautiuful mind said, you have to get to know some of us a little more before asking personal questions i guess,so no one will get offended

  5. One sure way to find out is to keep asking those questions!

You show respect to us then we'll respect you!

  6. When I was in Egypt everyone seemed to like being asked questions, because I think a lot of them feel misunderstood, and they liked the fact that we were really trying to learn.  I also did some research before I went so they could tell that I was really interested.  If you are respectful and don't ask overly personal questions then you'll be fine.  And if you make the effort to learn a few words of Arabic, they'll love you!

The Egyptians we met were quite knowledgeable about the US, foreign policy, many religions, history, etc.  They have an amazing country and have every reason to be proud of it.  Cairo is incredibly sophisticated--we've traveled a lot and one of the best Italian meals I ever had was in Cairo--go figure!

If you are going to meet someone, bring a gift from your hometown--our hosts were quite touched.

If you don't want to look like an American, wear a Molson shirt or a ball cap from a Canadian bar.

We went all over Egypt and I loved every minute I was there--you'll have the time of your life!!

  7. I will travel to Egypt ,and yes I worry ,  but not about violations ,  but maybe  " self violations "  because I don't know your culture .
