  1. the 5.1 just refers to the number of channels of output.. if your receiver is capable of 5 channels then yes to you question. the sub woofer is never counted as one of the channels it is just a given.. so you have front L/R, Rear L/R, and center


  2. Yes..if you have 5 speakers (C-FL-FR-RL-RR)and a subwoofer.
