Question:

If I convert a DVD to a different file, does that mean it won't play in my DVD player?

or does that mean it is being put onto my computer in a different format and the DVD will be left in tact?

    Your DVD is not being altered. That original data remains unchanged. As the data is copied and transferred it is changed. Your original DVD will not be harmed.

    If u convert the dvd file into any other file format, to play it in the dvd player u hav to  make the Video CD or DVD to play it in the DVD player. some players supports the mpeg & divx format also. check with the manufacturer website for the compatibility of the player.

    But this wont cause any damage to ur present file or DVD.
