I downloaded ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO PLUS which offers a HD converter. I`m just wondering, does the original video file need to be HD to actually receive the benifets that HD delivers?

  1. The quality of the video can only be as good as the source. If you started at standard definition, it will remain there no matter what. You can make the video quality worse (compress it more) - but you can't improve it.

  2. هااااااااااااااااااااااى

  3. As far as I know you don't get any difference.  In so far as most video compression formats are lossy, that is they loose data when compressing.  So basically all that will happen is you'll have a HD file with .mov quality video and audio.

If the .mov file is of sufficiently high quality you might get a improved video.  Although I doubt it.  As for audio, you won't get any difference.  The audio quality depends on the audio system on you PC or movie player.

  4. If the movie started out at an HD resolution like 1280x720 or 1920x1080 and you convert it, you will end up with an HD movie. If you are starting with a YouTube movie and converting it to an HD resolution, it will not improve the quality.

  5. Yes it does. By transcoding a video, you cannot make its quality significantly better. You might be able to enhance it a little but there's a basic rule of thumb that applies here. "Garbage in; garbage out." This Ulead program is intended for people with HD camcorders.
