If I cut gourd plants to keep them within a small area, will they still produce gourds?

  1. the plants have to get large enough to be having male and female flowers

    they male flowers usually start growing on them first then further out on the vines you will start to have female flowers

    if you chop the vines off too short you won't have many gourds develop.

    i try not to trim any vines until I see female flowers or baby gourds then i start trimming.

    you can redirect the vines back toward the center of the plant or upward  on a trellis if space is really limited.

    what kinds are you growing
