If I delete a shortcut to a picture, will it delete the original picture too?

I'm trying to add pictures to my iPod, but I messed up the first time. I have a folder full of shortcuts to pictures, and I want to delete the shortcuts. But I was wondering if that would delete the original pictures as well?

Please help!

Don't think so.

Think of it in literal terms.  If the short cut to the park has a building built through it, there is still the original way to the park.

NO.  Deleting a shortcut, does NOT delete the original file.

If it is a "Shortcut" deleting it will NOT delete the picture.

A shortcut is just a way of graphically displaying an icon to lead you (the computer) to where the actual file (picture) is located.
