Question:

If I do a disk image with Acronis, to an external hard drive, and lets say in the future my main drive C?

fails, I get a new hard drive, and use Acronis to restore the disk image back up I did, will my computer be the same as before? like everything in the same location, my games working fine, and etc?

  2. yes it will be working fine. With the disk image you make a copy of your hard drive at that moment. When you get a new drive which is bigger or smaller, it don't mind as you only place back the files as it was and so you can play all your games etc.

  3. Yes. Acronis and Norton Ghost both copy a hard drive sector by sector in essence making an EXACT clone. The process takes a while, but is well worth it if you are worried about losing important data. Obviously you can't know when a hard drive is going to fail, and failure rates are pretty low, but better safe than sorry!

    I actually prefer Norton Ghost over Acronis but for a home user the price is not worth it. Either utility works well and will get you very similar results
