  1. You need to give us more details.

    If you mean a System Restore, accessed through Windows, then no; the Spyware will still be there. System restore just resets your preferences and rolls back the installation of any legitimate programs.

    If you mean a clean hard drive wipe, then yes; when everything on the hard drive is deleted by re-installing the operating system, all the spyware will be gone.

  2. If you carry out  a System Restore it is possible that malware will be embedded in some of the latest Restore Points, whereas if you carry out a full Recovery, which wipes the OS before reinstalling then you will be clean.

    I used a Disc to Disc recovery on a friends laptop over the weekend as it was badly infected, now it is clean.

    Edit:

    @ wajid khan - I do not see anywhere within the question that a HP computer was mentioned therefore your answer appears to be out of context.

  3. There are rare occassions where viruses may hide themselves within the hardware or different sectors of the hard drive (MBR).

    You can be 99.9% sure that if you perform the system recovery then you will have gotten rid of all the spyware.

  4. No.Why don't you just scan it in safe mode and turn off your system restore.And do it the correct way?

  5. Dear customer of HP,

    From your message I understand that you want to know if you perform the  system recovery in your Computer. Will the Spyware and virus remove completely?

    Let me assist you in this regard.

    Before, I give you any solution. From your side I need PC information.

    * Model Number?

    * Product Number

    * Serial number?

    This information can be found using the following two options.

      Option 1:

      You can find this information on your system by pressing the

      CTRL + ALT + S keys on your keyboard.  This will bring up the HP

      Pavilion Support Information screen.

      Option 2:

      The Product Name and Model number can also be located on the back of

      the PC on a white sticker.

    Further, I would like to inform you that, HP Pavilion PCs that ship with Windows XP do not include a set of recovery CDs.  Instead, they use a hidden space (partition) on the hard drive to store the recovery information. You can restore the operating system and HP preinstalled applications by performing the Recovery Process using this Recovery Partition of the hard drive. This hidden partition can be used to recover all of the original software in the event of a major problem by pressing the F10 key repeatedly when the computer is first started.

    But, your computer is preinstalled with Recovery CD Creator software to create Recovery CD/DVD. You can use this application to create Recovery kit. HP strongly recommends making a recovery CD set before experiencing any problems. The Recovery CD Creator program can be used to make "only one set" of recovery DVD/CDs for the PC. The recovery CD set contains a complete set of the original operating system, drivers, and application software that shipped with the PC.

    To perform the system recovery I recommend you refer the below website for XP:

    If your using Vista OS then refer the below website to perform the system recovery:

    I believe the above information should be helpful to you. If you need further assistance then please reply me flirtishever@yahoo.com
