My car broke down and I used the money to fix it. Now, I can't pay for the item that I won. Will this affect my credit?

Thanks.

  1. How much was the item?  Try working out something with the seller...Like agreeing to pay the insertion fees, and the final fee....and maybe the seller would take the strike off of your name...because 2 of those, and you can never go back on Ebay...But to answer your question...NO...it will not hurt your credit...

  2. To my knowledge, no.

eBay/Paypal will report a seller who owes money (in fees or chargebacks), but not a buyer.

The seller won't.  However, the seller(s) will report that you didn't pay.  eBay will restrict your ability to bid and if there were too many complaints, kick you off of eBay.

Some sellers will agree not to report you if you at least pay the fees they incurred from your winning the item.  Morally you owe them at least that.

  3. You should write the seller a letter of apology and offer to come to an agreement, such as paying a little now while they hold the item and then some later...

  4. Once you make a bid on ebay you have entered into a legally binding contract. If you win and you do not pay (regardless of the reason, no one care about your financial problems) the seller can  take legal action against you. Doesn't mean that they will only that they can.

  5. NO! but it will effect your feedback and many people wont sell to you on there if you bought from someone else and didnt pay
