  1. no if you breathe next to a person who's smoking that's still smoking

  2. No,lol.even the healthiest person can get any kind of cancer..it's just smoking greatly increases the chances.

  3. Radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer.  If you live in a basement you will get exposed to more because it's heavier than air.  It also varies depending on were you live.

  4. I am a prime example and have explained my case in this forum to all different questions.

To the Nurse that says you can not had lung cancer unless you smoke, you are wrong!

I was 16, never smoke once in my life and I was diagnosed with mucoepidermoid carcinoma a very rare lung cancer, which occur ed on the lower lobe of my right lung, which was removed successfully not requiring me to have any painful chemo or radio. Thank the Lord!

Now, cancer of the lung does not necessarily have to be from smoking. Asbestos victims have in mist cases lung cancer, people with other different types of cancer, have it sometimes spread to their lungs. If you breathe in second hand smoke, chances are that anyone can get lung cancer. So please, to all those people that say you have to smoke to have lung cancer, your all wrong. Thank you to people who are not so narrow minded and know this after I have posted my story several times on this forum. :)

  5. No u can get it from second hand smoke. If your around people who smoke all the time it's going into your lungs as if your smoking.

  6. to the person called shanaynay - it is not a dumb question and doesn't deserve that sort of negative comment. if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all.

anyway, the question: well you have less of a chance as somebody that does smoke, but that does not mean that there is no chance. if you don't smoke and get lung cancer, you are extremely unfortunate. it's like breast cancer: males can get it but there is a larger percentage of women that get it. if we turn the males into non-smokers and the women into smokers*** then it is pretty much the same, if you know what i mean.

***that was just an example. not meaning to offend anyone or anything

  7. no, it is not a gurantee.

for instance, if you never drive doesn't mean you'll never into a car accident.

you can inhale second hand smoke or other hazarous chemicals or dust to cause lung cancer.

  8. You have cancerous cells right now.  The only difference is that you body's natural immune system destroys most cancerous cells before they become aggressive tumors.

If you live long enough and aren't killed by disease or organ failure, you will eventually die of some form of cancer.  It's simple probability.

Toxins in cigarette smoke damage DNA and reduce your body's immune response, increasing the chances of developing cancer earlier.

  9. If you never smoke and eat apricot seeds everyday, lung cancer should be the least of your worries, id say there's about a 2% chance you'll get it.

  10. No. There are a lot of toxins in the air you breathe which you can't control and has the potential of causing cancer.

  11. 90% of lung cancer cases are from smokers. If you do not smoke your chances of getting lung cancer are dirasticly reduced. Another dangerous substance is abestos exposure. That could cause meshtelioma. For more facts about mesothelioma and lung cancer visit the website below.

  12. No, smoking is not the only cause of lung cancer.

  13. No. Christopher Reeve's (Superman) widow never smoked and she died of lung cancer.

  14. There are other factors that can cause lung cancer such as being exposed to asbestos or living in a city that is highly polluted. However if you do not smoke then your chances of lung cancer is significantly reduced.

  15. If only it were so simple. But no, I wouldn't guarantee that. The reality is cancer is caused by countless variables including general health, environment, diet, the quality of your immune system and family medical history as well. But the tobacco industry does make a handy dandy scapegoat doesn't it?

  16. no. dumb question. srs.

  17. Nope you can still get it from bad air/ second hand smoke etc... but your chances will be greatly reduced.

  18. Sadly no, you can get lung cancer from second hand smoke, breahing in toxic chmicals, or from plain old air pollution. But, smoking will greatly increase your risk of lung cancer. Don't smoke!

  19. No, there are many types of lung cancer that you can get regardless of your smoking status. Just because you personally don't smoke, doesn't mean you're never exposed to others' smoke or normal air and industrial pollutants.

Even minimizing all these things, there is still a risk of getting any cancer, including Lung Cancer.

That said, smoking increases your risk of lung cancer by a huge amount and we all advise everyone to quit ASAP.

  20. No, but it does mean that your chances of getting lung cancer drastically are reduced.
