If I download itunes 7.7.1, will my old itunes music save and upload on the new itunes?

When I try to update my itunes to 7.7.1, my itunes doesn't respond and won't download. So now i just want to re-download the newer itunes but will my music save and upload on the new itunes. Also will my ipod respond to the new itunes or will it get confused. The only reason I even need to itunes 7.7.1 is because my ipod won't connect to my computer unless i have 7.6 itunes or higher. Any help or suggestions would be great, thanks!

yeah your music will save but you might not have enough ram.. thats why its not running good

Your music is in a folder on your computer , installing or reinstalling or upgrading itunes will not affect the music.
