It's suppose to be VERY cold....in Canada.

I was thinking I'd go to Pelee Island in Lake Eerie, get some wine, then take the ferry back to Kingsville, Ontario. And then start walking north.

How many hours north would I have to walk to run into a polar bear? What if I walked for like 4 hours?

  1. your little legs wouldn't be able to take you that far. its a big country.

  2. i suggest you stop drinking wine

  3. Drink a lot of wine, and you'll see all kindsa things without walking at all.

  4. hahaha lol..... you might be able to see one at the zoo!

  5. If you want to see polar bears in Ontario you wold have go to Hudson's bay.It may take you a month or two by foot.

  6. Walk to Churchill, Manitoba. FYI, tourists stick to buses when in Churchill because polar bears have a tendency to eat people. So just walk until a bear determines you'd make a fancy feast. You'll be up close and personal in no time!

PS: Walking from Windsor, I'd set aside more than one day. It is about 1500 kilometres. Unless, that is, you can walk about a hundred miles an hour, in which case, use your super powers for good, not evil.

  7. Look at a map! Good grief.

If you walk north from Windsor, you are going to wind up in Detroit.

    Better start at Pelee Island.

And it is a looooooong walk before you are going to see any polar bears. Many hundreds of miles.

Unless you go to a zoo in Toronto.

Eric....One of my favorite questions for school children is "If you go straight south from Detroit, which is the first foreign country you will enter?

I am glad that you were only kidding.

  8. Last time a polar bear came south to Point Pelee someone shot it. So we don't get polar bears that far south anymore. Word gets around.

Gotta watch for alligators at Point Pelee. It's illegal to shoot 'em.

I guess you'd have to walk for at least 6 hours before you are far enough to see polar bears. More likely you will see the famous but rare ontario pink elephant.
