  1. You have to go to the DMV and apply for a new one.

  2. Your DMV

Its helps to make pictures so they know for sure you really built it

    In Texas anyway

  3. You can pay a custom motorcycle shop to stamp a vin on it and handle all the paperwork

  4. Most likely it WON'T be the DMV. It will be an inspection station that subcontracts for the state. Also you may have gotten bad info if your state requires an MSO for the frame (that means manufacturers statement of origin). They usually want a company with some type of certification to make frames. If they don't care about that and have some sort of a "home built title" they may use the engine serial number for the title. Title will come from the DMV after inspection. State police may even get involved.

  5. All DMVs have a procedure for registering one-off vehicles.

Don't worry about a thing.  Just take it in when it runs and they'll run you through their mill.

    .

  6. go to the dmv in your state & get instructions before you start.

this is getting very difficult or impossible to do in some states.

in my state you have to have a manufacturers point of origin certificate for 3 major components of the bike to get it titled. even with the right papers you have to find a friendly license bureau to get it done. most of them dont understand all the rules & just say they cant title it.

save ALL your reciepts, even for the tubeing & bolts.
