  1. The transition to digital television in 2009 means only that you must have either a digital television set or buy a converter for your old cathode ray television set in order to see the broadcasts.

Which service provider you have, like DirectTV, will not make a difference.

  2. No, DirecTV already broadcasts in digital and the digital transition only effects OTA (over the air) signals

  3. no. if you pay attention to the commercials, if you have satellite or cable, you're fine. the only ones who are affected are people with rabbit ears.

  4. If you are on Cable or Satellite, you will not need to make any changes for the transition.  Cable and Satellite systems should support old style analog TVs until about 2012.

The transition in 2009 only affects Free Over The Air TV signals - the kind you get from an antenna.  If you use an antenna, you will need either a converter or a digital TV.

    I hope this helps.

  5. No you don't. Only those with antenna's or rabbits ears need a converter box to change the signal sent. To get the HD you need a TV the operates in high def. Check out link below for all your questions.
