  1. You could have a dozen or so babies.

    Please do not breed http://www.geocities.com/calhamassoc/Bef...

  2. like 2-6

  3. anywhere from 1 to 10. the usual is about 4 to 6.  but these numbers may drop significally because hamsters tend to canibalize their young.

  4. Their litters vary on average about 3 to 10 babies.  The biggest litter my hamster every had was nine.  Older hamsters may have less pups.  Young hamsters tend to have the most.

Deciding to breed is a big commitment.  When my hamster first had pups I thought it was wonderful until I had a population explosion.  Don't get me wrong.  I don't regret it but it was a big responsibility.  You will need more supplies to begin with and you will also have to find them all good homes when they mature.

Once the pups reach sexual maturity you have to seperate them by s*x or you will end up with another pregnant hamster.  You will have to seperate the male and female hamster to begin with because the female can get pregnant shortly after giving birth.

  5. like KeeGzi said, it isnt a good idea to put a male and a female hamster together until you know what to do with all the babies. you would expect 2-10 maybe more babies if you put them together. you need to think about it...new cages, food, toys and treats; it all adds up to one big amount of money! =]

  6. around 10 or so. but they will have them regularly, it's not a good idea to get a male and female unless you know what you're going to do with the babies! and once they have those babies you're going to be spending  a lot more money on feeding all their babies who grow exceptionally fast!
