If I rent a dedicated server (Not a shared server, or VPS) Can I use it for off site backups? Provided I order a few large hard drives with it?

  1. Take a look at: http://www.goldpuma.com . As an experienced webmaster I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them. Their service is really great and affordable.

  2. Yes you can via the use of a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client that can easily be taken from the net but it is hard to set-up and difficult to maintain. I have a hard drive in my xbox and use my computer to store back-ups as the xbox disk cannot be read by a computer. With that in mind it is very troubling to set IP addresses and open ports etc. and you might also want to consider the speed of your internet if it is a dedicated net server or Ethernet if it is at your home or business, as if it is a large sum of data it will take a while to transfer all that aside if you have the space available on the server and the time to do it, go ahead
