Will my picture become better? Right now regular tv and HD have the same quality, the only difference is HD is widescreen. If I get the HDMI cable, will that make the HD look better?

  1. You don't say much about how you're connected.  It sounds like you have a cable box (or something).  What you may actually have to do to actually get an HD signal out to your TV is go through the menu's and set the output to what your TV can handle.  You may not need HDMI, but you still need some type of HD cables.

Oh, and a common mistake people do not understand is that 720p is a better picture than 1080i.  The 'p' stands for progressive and the 'i' stands for interlace.  A 1080i picture will have only 540 lines of resolution at a time while a 720p set has the full 720 lines of resolution.

  2. 480i is the standard tv resolution.

720p is a high definition standard.

1080i is a higher definition than 720p but very very hard to distinguish a difference between 720p and 1080i

1080p is what requires an HDMI cable the defnition is better but if you don't have a good enough TV you probably wont notice the dif between 1080 i or p.

  3. If you have a cable box then YES!!! the picture will look better with an HDMI cable than coax.  If you are running a composite video cable out of the cable box to the TV set you probably won't see any difference in picture quality.

Some Cable companies require to to BUY!!! the high definition service to get true high definition TV reception and not standard definition digital.

If you do not have a cable box the best you can do is RG6 Coax Cable

    Picture Quality Connection Types...

    BEST -  HDMI

Even Better -  Composite Video Cable (RGB plus 2 audio)

    Better  S-Video with audio cable

Good -  RCA Cable (Yellow, Red, White)

OK -  Coax (RG6) Cable (RF signal)
