If I get arrested would I be able to just pay a fine and leave?

I like to storm chase and I saw a video on youtube where a guy was arrested for storm chasing and the cop said it was for his own safety. As long as I don't block traffic and just filming, wouldn't I be able to contnue filming a storm. Isn't the 1st ammendment freedom of thedia and press? If a cop tells me to leave the area and I don't, do you think I could just pay a fine instead of going to jail? Sources?

They would probably be happy to accept your money.  That's pretty much what the function is of a lot of municipalities.
