  1. Actually, being married has a lot to do with your financial status. When you are not married, up until you are 25 or you've graduated with a bachelor's degree, you are a dependent of your parents/guardians. This affects how much you can receive by how much money your parents are making. If they are making a low amount, you can usually get more money. If they make a lot of money, you don't get so much for financial aid, because the college figures your parents can pay for it (which isn't always the case).

Now, if you are married, you are no longer a dependent of your parents. This means the financial aid office looks at your and your husband/wife's yearly salary, and gives you more money if you don't make so much, and less money if you do.

  2. You can get help, married or not.  It doesn't matter.

  3. yea that got nothing to do with your financial help

  4. It depends on what state or where you live.

Usually you are better off not being married, I would suggest you attend college before you get married.

The government uses combined incomes when determining your PELL Grants and other assistance you maybe looking for.  You can also try to obtain financial help from private organizations, you will have to do a lot of work to find places that will help but they are out there for the taking, these programs some times give you help for need- which being married or not may not make a difference. In this day and age you need more then a bachelor's degree you need a masters or higher

I will give you the same advise my parents gave me and I gave my 3 girls----get a good education, and keep your legs crossed until you do LOL.

  5. yeah you can really you are still entitled to get help if you need it.

  6. You can still get help, regardless.

  7. No that is not true.  I think it depends on what kind of help you trying to get.  I know the Georgia Lottery contributes to the "Hope Scholarship" which is a college assited scholarship.  This is N O T discriminatory to marital status.

    I hope this helps.

  8. yes you can.

  9. Well your husband can hopefully help you out. You can still apply for student loans.

  10. YA SURELY. U CAN!!!!!!!!
