  1. I donated blood 2 days before running a 5k and had was noticeably tired, but I don't know if it was just that I didn't sleep good the night before or the fact that I donated blood. I finished the 5k but I was exausted, felt like I ran a marathon. I wouldn't recomend donating that soon before a race.


  2. Yeah, you'll find it takes a lot more out of you when you're running. I did the same a while ago and found that I generally took a minute or so longer per mile after giving blood.

  3. Yes, it will affect your performance. You are reducing the amount of blood, and red blood cells in your body.

    The level of red blood cells determines your ability to transport oxygen. With a lowered level you will feel tired and not be able to perform as well.

    It can take up to two weeks to replace the blood.
