  1. I dont think your time driving to and from the shelter to make a donation will count as community service. However, if you volunteer to clean the pens, walk to dogs, etc, that might qualify. Contact the shelter and see if they need any volunteer help/ Im sure $100. would be great for the shelter. It might seem like a small amount, but every little bit helps!

  2. If your heart is not with the animal shelter, then think a little harder. Where is your passion? What do you like to do that would benefit someone - make jewelry? Contact your local elementary school and find out who is the Girl Scout leader. Volunteer to teach the girls how to make jewelry. Now you've done something you love, and by teaching that skill to others you've benefitted the community. Everyone wins.

  3. It all depends on where you live you really have to go to the shelter and ask them. Each State and County's are different on what they except.

  4. Community service is more often than not considered the giving of ones time not fiscal resources... Travel time is not considered  part of community service because it doesn't benefit anyone.  Often times a judge will sentence a wealthy person to community service to avoid them from just buying their way out of their penance..
