If I grind up my M.J......?

Is it better to keep whole buds of cannabis or can you grind it all up. I didnt know if there is logic behind either or if it was purely a choice?

  2. Keep it in buds (DO NOT GRIND IT UP) and keep in an air tight container in a cool, dark place. (The fridge is good)

    THC is not a very stable compound and breaks down in light and air.
