If I had index.html and home.html, which one would the browser choose as the default page?

The page is normally index.htm etcetera as this is necessary to comply with the law in the regions of the world. The US prefers home.htm etcetera as their law has that and avoids use of character  x  which is not on all keyboards and character sets in the world and avoids use of a cross symbol
