If I hand over a lottery ticket to a member of staff at a kiosk, how can I be sure if it has won or lost?

  1. the lottery machine beeps differently if you have won. I think its  ahigher beep for win and lower beep for lose.

    I always ask for ticket back when thye say i lost anyway- love to rip it into little pieces to get my £1 worth of aggression release!!!


  2. Ask them to check it, and ask for a print out of the winning numbers and your ticket back.

  3. Sign the back of the ticket BEFORE you hand it over.

  5. You should never, ever, hand over a ticket to anyone unless you've filled in the back with your name and address. In the event it is a winning ticket it would be worthless to an unscrupulous shopkeeper because it couldn't be claimed by anyone other than you. These things are checked for winners over £50,000 but to lose any amount to someone dishonest would be annoying. Alternatively you could first check your numbers online using the link below.
