  1. They don't expire, but do change in value.  Check a business section of a newspaper for currency exchange, or just type currency exchange in a search engine for current rates.  I just checked and it takes about 10.99 Pesos to get 1 dollar.  Don't forget that exchange places will charge you a fee for their service.

edit:  pesos prior to 1993 are worth 1000 times less as I just learned.  That was when they changed their currency.

  2. Yes, the new currency took effect in 1994.  You may be able to trade them, but they will unlikely be worth much.   I can tell you roughly what they are worth.  If you have 1000 old pesos (pre-1994 is old), that is the equivalent of 1 new peso, or a dime.  Not much.  If you have 10,000 old pesos, that would be 10 pesos, or one US dollar.  I have seen the old pesos sold as souveneir in numerous stores across Mexico.

  3. Good luck.  They don't usually trade them anymore at banks.  Think of it as novelty and keepsake.

  4. Useless but pretty !!!
