If I have a 1080i/720p TV should I DL content in 1080i or 1080p? Will 1080p content appear more grainy?

I have other items that can view 1080p... so its not wasting time dl higher resolution.. I just want to make sure this TV is not getting a worse picture having to "downgrade" it like you say it does

  1. Neither.  First, if your set is 1080i then 1080p won't even be viewable since your set can't handle 1080p.  If  you have a 1080i/720p tv, the closest native resolution for your TV is probably 720p.  If that is true,  you should DL content in 720p.  If you DL content in 1080i your set will have to downconvert the content back to 720p anyways so you will only waste time DL in anything higher.

  2. 1080P is a higher picture quality so your TV can not even view it. It can only view 1080I or lower
