I have been applying for secured cards and have gotten accepted just checked my credit score and wanted to know if with my score would I have gotten approved for a unsecured card. If so I feel as if I may have wasted money on getting secured. I was just scared I wouldn't have gotten approved.

  1. You didn't waste your money applying for a secured card. With a 537 score, no one will offer you an unsecured card. Here is how your score ranks with other credit scores. http://www.badcreditfixup.com/credit-sco...

  2. With that score, there's no way you'd get approved for an unsecured card, so don't worry, you didn't waste your money :)

  3. yes you are considered poor

  4. try freecteditreport.com or maybe find some credit score ranges. I am just thirteen tho

  5. Yes, that is a "Poor" credit score.

You would probably be declined for all but secure cards.

  6. 537 is a low score.

Generally speaking, you need at least a 600 to get a chance at getting unsecured credit without being gouged with a really high interest rate.

Generally, the people on my caseload whose cars I have to repossess, and whose loans are in default have credit scores in the low 500's. This is also a credit score that I often see for people who are chronically late on their payments.

  7. yea it is

  8. Yes, a credit score of 537 is considered extremely poor. With that type of score, it will be virtually impossible for you to get approved for any type of financing. In my opinion, you should work very hard on slowly rebuilding your credit (above 700 is considered good) so that your options won't be limited. You can do this by purchasing small items on a credit card (under $20) and paying them back. After doing this for a few years, you will be deemed a better risk to credit companies and will thus increase your credit score.

  9. Yeah a secured card was/is your best bet.  Here is an articel on raising your credit score.

  10. that score is "***".  You wouldn't be able to get a car if you used cash.

    Just kidding.....

I would suggest that if you have outstanding debt or debt that still shows up on your credit report.....file bankruptcy (chapter 7).

Chapter 7 isn't a morale thing anymore but more of a business decision.

If you had bad stuff in the past that is still showing....and you have items owing now....you might as well file as your credit score couldn't get any lower.
