I got a F and D in 1 semester in HS. Then the next year I got straight A's in both semesters. Now my senior year Im gonna try to get 5 A's and a B which I know I can do.

Can i still get into a Cal State? My classes are still the highest you can get, as if I didnt fail a class, its just not honors except AP Calculus. My average GPA is 3.2 and my SAT is 1310 but im gonna retake the SAT and aiming for 1,500.

  1. Yeah, 3.2 is a high GPA and 1310 is a good score. It's plenty to get into a state school.

It doesn't matter that you got one F and a bunch of A's instead of almost all B's and a few A's. A 3.2 is good no matter how you got it. The only way the F would matter is if you failed a required course.

  2. The CSU schools have notoriously low admissions standards.  Your SAT is about average for them and your GPA is above average for them.  I don't think you will have a problem.

Address those poor grades in your admissions essays to colleges, explaining why your current work demonstrates your abilities better than those two courses.

    Good luck.

  3. It depends on what Cal state is looking for. If you improve your scores and keep up your GPA you should be able to. You can check out their website to see their specifications. Schools are also looking at your extra curricular activities and your essay. If you participate why couldn't you get in?
