I have had it for about 5 month but have not used it. I like to pay everything in cash but I was just wondering if I still don't use will it still raise my credit score? Or is it best to use 5% and then pay it off every month? I want to keep raising my credit score. And later on when I ask for a vbalance increase and I don't use the card will they still give me one?

  1. If you dont use it .. it wont do anything for your credit .. however you can buy like gas for your car on it and then send the payment in and it will raise your credit after 6 months

  2. That'll actually lower your credit score. Your best bet to raise your credit score is to buy something that you know you will be  able to pay for when your Credit card bill comes.

  3. You should use it to create some credit history.  That is showing that you are credit worthy.  No, they won't increase your credit limit without you using it.  Why would they, you don't use the limit you have.

  4. You should definitely move some of your purchases to credit cards... then pay off the balance with the money you didnt spend every month.  Otherwise you won't be building as much credit as you can.

  5. You have to use it, just use it wisely.

  6. If you don't use the credit card, they will eventually close the account due to lack of activity.

To increase your score, use the card and pay it off in full each month.  This creates a payment history.  Doesn't have to be a certain percentage.  It's the on time payment that is important.

  7. The last answer was good.  Use the card to buy gas once or twice a month and pay it in full every month.  I also agree that the book "Debt Cures They Don't Want You to Know About" is very insightful.  I read it and learned a lot.

  8. keep it under 30% of your available credit and pay in full monthly, should give you a boost, paying in cash is great , but you get no credit bump for it , if you use the credit wisley it will help you secure better interest rates , on things like car loans and home loans, saving you thousands of dollars in the future. I strongly recommend the book "Debt Cures They Dont Want You To Know About" even if you dont have credit problems , this book has so many tips on how to build good credit and how to avoid some pitfalls that can really mess you up later, best of luck to you
