can I just use a splitter? with one set of cables running to the sub's amp the other to the 6x9's amp if so does it matter if the splitter is at the back of the head unit or at the other end of the cable ie in the boot with the amps

  1. Note when you use a splitter the you also split the signal voltage coming from your head unit to your amps. so your amps will only be receiving half the input signal which in turn has people turn the gain up higher which will increase the chances of your amps clipping. i would use the amps out put jack to pass the signal thru. good quality amp come with signal matched out puts so that would be best

  2. Where the splitter goes in not an issue. Just make sure that you don't accidentally send a powered signal through any piece of gear that can only handle a line-out signal, i.e., crossover, signal conditioner, etc.

  3. it doesnt really matter too much but i would put it near ur amps

  4. either is fine, it doesnt really matter.

but i would advice you to check the amplifiers youll be using.

most amplifiers have a input and output for rca's. this means, only one cable needs to come from the stereo. it plugs into the "input" on one amp. then you get the 2nd set of rca's and connect it on the "output" of that same amp... and plug it into the "input" of the 2nd amplifier.

like i said, either is fine... its just a matter of preference. if your able to fit the splitter behind the stereo, go that way so people cannot see the splitter. but remember that this will require 2 long rca cables.
