Simply put... yes you need a pandoras battery and magic memstick for this. as for the risk part of your question, every person who has tried to downgrade their psp knows that there are risks involved with downgrading. im not trying to scare you or nothing but you can totally mess up and brick your psp making it worthless. as long as you follow the directions exactly and put questions before actions you should do fine.
