Question:

If I have a revoked WI driver license, can I get a MN license now that I moved? Do they check my WI record?

I just moved to Minnesota. My Wisconsin drivers license is revoked for one year. If I go to the local Minnesota DMV office will I be able to get a Minnesota drivers license? Does the State of Minnesota check my Wisconsin record? I hear stories of people having revoked WI licenses but having valid MN licenses at the same time

  1. Nope.  The police are brave enough to enforce the traffic code.  Many older people used to skirt the revocation by going "across the state line."  Serve your time and get a copy of your Wisoncisn release from the revocation.  It is more diffilcult but so is paying the true tax bill to the bloodsuckers in Washington.

  2. Welcome to MN. You can try to get a MN license, but they will run your name through the little computer and in a matter of seconds they will have the info showing your WI license is revoked. When I went to change my cheeseland license to a MN license the lady asked for my WI license and she typed in my WI license # and  brought up my WI info right on the computer. My WI license was fine, but she did mention the two speeding tickets I had on my record.

    So yes they will know about your revocation in WI. Do yourself a favor and clear up the WI thing first. The fines for attempting to get a DL under false pretenses can be hefty.

    Good Luck

  3. Those stories are just that, stories.  If you licence is revoked in one US state, or Canadian province, it is revoked in all states and provinces.  It is only possible to get a licence while revoked in another jurisdiction by fraud, and when (not if) they catch you, it is a whole other set of criminal charges.

    There is a question that asks if you are currently prohibited from driving in any other jurisdiction.  If you lie, they may not catch it right away if the inter-state network is down, but they will catch it, mark my words.

    By the way, revoked means you start from scratch IF they decide to lift the revocation, that is learner permit etc, all over again.  Suspension means you get your licence back, revocation means you are a newbie if and when they lift it.

    It doesn't matter whether WI reports to MN, MN will ask every single state and province for suspension and revocation records.  No state or province will issue a licence to a suspended or revoked driver unless fraud is involved.  They will also ask you in your driver application, and a lie is an offence.

    7409.2800 CANCELLATION; GROUNDS.

    C.has committed a fraud or deceit in applying for a driver's license;

  4. Yes they will check your record so no, you can't get the Mn license
