Also, can I request a Federal Pell Grant or other federal grants while in graduate school for chemistry via FAFSA

  1. At least in most cases, you are not required to pay anything on student loans until 6 months after you finish your schooling. This includes graduate school. It's possible that with a subsidized loan, the interest will no longer be paid, though, in which case you'd have to either pay it or roll the interest up into the loan and let it compound on itself.


  2. 1. I'm pretty sure you can defer subsidized loans as long as you are in college.

    2. When filling out your FAFSA online, you will be prompted to choose which types of federal aids you wish to apply for (and you can apply for all). Upon completing FAFSA you will receive an email with your SAR report. This report will tell you whether you qualify for a Pell Grant or not.

  3. You are not required to pay back on the principle of your subsidized or unsubsidized stafford or direct federal loans while you are still a student enrolled at least half time in any kind of college.

    All Graduate Students, and Undergraduate students who have reached the maximum of 180 credits are no longer qualified to receive federal pell grants.
