In California, and I am 16

And I go to Washigton D.C., where you cannot obtain a license until you are 18,

Would I be able to drive once I was there?

  1. Yes. Each state recognizes the validity of licenses from all other states.


  2. That depends on the rules on your license in California.  

    In some states a license for a 16 year old is NOT a full license, and even in some states that allow a 17 year old with driver's ed to have a full license, it still isn't enough for some places, like DC, or New York City.

  3. Each state sets their own rules.

    Most states will allow you to drive only your own car in that situation.

    You must have a valid driver license from your home state AND be at least 17 years old to drive in NJ unless you are operating your own car.

    You would not be able to drive any other car until you were 17.


  4. mo u can not cause u are under age plus the only way u can drive is that u have a adult with u . the is the law there . plus u r not allowed to drive, with anyone else under the leagle age
