  3. If you format the hard drive then re instal your OS then the virus will be gone, however why no tell us the name of the virus or what it doing - there are ways of removing it without a re instal or are you going to re instal everytime you get a virus ?

  4. NO do not do that ,

it will probably hide in the system restore as well as other places.

this is a good way to get rid of any virus forever ...

just follow it as close as you can for vista..

click on tools > delete browsing history > delete all

    > check the box, also delete files and settings stored by

    add-on's >yes.

    ......................................... next" ,..........................................

start > all programs > pc help and tools > system restore

    > system restore settings > system restore > check the box turn off system restore on all drives > ok

then go here and do scan.

then go here and do Clean up Scan

    http://onecare.live.com/site/en-au/cente...

then turn the system restore back to on...

then create a new restore point as your pc will now be clean.

then turn off system restore again as it will erase the last infected restore file..

reboot and then turn the system restore back to on...

and hey presto a clean machine...

    PS:

doing a scan alone will not get rid of it as scans will not remove infected restore files..
