If I have a visa for a country in the EU can i travel freely in Europe?

Do i only need 1 visa for a particular country in Europe or do i need others if i am wishing to move around?

  1. If you can get it, a Schengen visa will be good for much of continental Europe.

    The UK, Ireland, Switzerland and some others are not included and you might need a visa for those separately.

    But not every visa is automatically good for all the area.

    If you are from the USA, and some more countries, you can get a stamp in your passport upon arrival.

    But for people from other countries it can be very hard to get visa at all, and they might be able to get an restricted visa, only for the country they have to be.

    And there are multiple entry visa and single entry visa too, if you have a single entry one you will not be allowed back in after visiting outside the Schengen agreement area.


  2. No, you only need one visa - EU visa. This will take you anywhere in the EU.  

  3. It depends on where you're from and where you are going.  You'll need to check with an embassy of the country you want to go to.

    Being from the USA, I only need a visa if I'm going to stay for over 90 days in Europe.
