Hi im just wondering if I meet the normal requirements to drive a car legally with a provisional licence.

If I have an accident, do I have to be insured witht eh car if anything, or is it still under the owner?

I know its not clear how I sentenced it but I really need to know now.

  1. To drive a car in the UK with a provisional licence, you must display L plates & be accompanied by a full licence holder at all times. You may not drive on motorways.

    The car must be insured for you specifically - if the owner of the car insurance, you will need to be added to the policy as a named driver.

    The owner's insurance policy will NOT cover you to drive unless the insurer is given your details.
