Or do I need additional steps?

I have a few computers hooked up via ethernet cable to a netgear router, and the internet works fine on all of them.

Thanks.

  1. Technically, yes you have a lan.  However, unless you enable some kind of sharing, your computers don't really talk to each other.  If the workgroups aren't the same, they don't even see each other.

If you want to accomplish some specific task, repost with that info and the operating systems of your computers.

  2. You have a lan, but whether all the computers will communicate successfully on this lan is a different story.

You may need to change the workgroups, and sharing protocols  if you want to have the computers communicate over the lan.

  3. Yes this is a LAN or Local Area Network.  If your internet works then good.  Are you trying to do anything else with your LAN like file/printer sharing?  Search Windows Help for steps to set these up.
