Question:

If I have customers sign a waiver, For going on a ride. Do I still need insurance?

I am thinking about starting a business where people go on a big ride down a ramp. Other businesses that do this have waivers to sign before the people can go on the ride. But do I need additional insurance, or is the waiver enough to cover me.

Thank you.

  1. You bet, because even with the best of waivers, a hot-shot lawyer can cream you by if nothing else dragging you through the courts--You could win, but still lose

A tight waiver sure wouldn't hurt, but neither would tight insurance

  2. You definately need insurance.  Waivers don't hold up in court, they only deter some people from filing a lawsuit.  No one can sign away their right to sue for injuries.

  3. That waiver won't hold up in court, and it sure won't "cover" you.

If you want to go without liability insurance, fine.  But likely in order to get the permit to occupy for the site, your municipality will require you have it in place.

    Budget a minimum of $5,000 a year.
